Nicki Minaj

Earlier this week Beyoncé released her latest video “Why Don’t You Love Me” off the deluxe version of I Am… Sasha Fierce.  It is amazing.  Beyoncé embrases the 1950′s pin-up/housewife theme and runs with it.  The video is shot beautifully and she looks amazing in every outfit.

My favorite look is her with all the eye make-up streaming down her face as she cries, smokes and drinks.  She looks flawless and the everything in the shot is working together.

In 2008, Ashanti released her most recent studio album The Declaration.  Her second single, “Good Good” did not do very well on the charts, but the music video has a simliar theme to Beyoncé’s new video.  Both have a 1950′s pin-up/housewife theme showing the artist doing chores around the house for their man.

Some people might see this connection and claim that Beyoncé stole this look from Ashanti.  I can see where people might think that, but Beyoncé took the same theme and gave it a purpose.  She made it look expensive and classy.  Beyoncé’s video could be a clip from a film, while Ashanti’s is nothing more than a music video.  Don’t get wrong, I enjoy Ashanti, but we all know Beyoncé is on another level.  Sorry, Ashanti.

German street artist Edgar Müller has created some amazing ’3D’ optical illusions using nothing but paint and pavement.  His work usually takes days at a time, but it is totally worth it in my opinion.  I think it speaks for itself.  Enjoy.

Keys open Doors.  Four days ago, Baltimore rap-tress Keys released a cover/diss-track of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Itty Bitty Piggy’.  She does not hold back.  Not only can she rhyme, but she is smart.  Since Baltimore’s rising female MC, Rye Rye, got pregnant at 18 last year, I had lost hope for another female rapper from Baltimore.

Nicki Minaj is still my obsession right now and that is not changing, but I do love competition.  As long as this girl fight stays on wax, I can’t get enough.  I expect big things for this girl but I’m waiting for Nicki’s rebuttal.  Check Keys out above!

Anne Hathaway

My main issue with this blog is Kanye West’s “girlfriend,” Amber Rose mimicing my muse Grace Jones.  Grace Jones’s Island Life album cover is an iconic photograph by Jean-Paul Goude.  It can never be touched.

Many people are giving Amber props for this photo.  Perez Hilton gave her an “A for effort.”  But as a true Grace Jones fan, I do not approve.  I am willing to bet that Amber Rose has no idea about Grace Jones or this iconic photograph before Kanye dressed her up and took this picture.  Like I said in a previous post, Kanye has taken Amber as his muse to dress her up anyway he pleases.  This time he took it too far.  Kanye, this is not okay.  Amber is no Grace, and never will be.
